Parking at Moritzburg Castle

The free one, and why I use it

The Waldschänke and Fasanengarten car park costs nothing. It is a walk from the castle rather than a step from it — about ten minutes on my legs — and that walk goes through the park rather than along a road, which makes it the better arrival as well as the cheaper one. If you are coming with a pushchair or a slow walker, take one of the paid ones instead and spend the money.

The three paid ones

• Schlossallee 2 — the main one, open twenty-four hours, with lavatories. The closest to the causeway.
• Radeburger Straße, signed Schloss Ost.
• Kalkreuther Straße, signed Schloss West.

What each of them charges, I do not know. The castle does not publish a tariff for them in anything I have read, and a figure I made up would be worse than a blank. Take coins, read the machine, and assume it is real money on top of your admission.

Or leave the car in Dresden

Bus 477 from Dresden-Neustadt stops at Moritzburg Schloss, and the S1 plus the Lößnitzgrundbahn steam railway gets you there the slow and interesting way. Neither needs a parking space at the far end. Both routes in full.

The castle sells its own admission at its own counter and on schloss-moritzburg.de. There is no Moritzburg entry ticket on GetYourGuide, so nothing on this site is a substitute for that counter.
